04 CRR · preparation

We build the application

After the required documents, consent and payment are received, CRR prepares, quality checks and dispatches the application. Standard matters are targeted within 3–4 business days.

05 Department of Justice

Government reviews the application

The Department publishes a 60-working-day process from receipt of a complete application. Government backlogs or requests for more information can extend this stage.

06 DoJ + SAPS CRC

Decision, database update and confirmation

If approved, the Department issues the expungement certificate and instructs the SAPS Criminal Record Centre. Final database confirmation is a separate government-controlled stage.

No blurred lines

Who is responsible for what?

Your part

  • Complete the initial check
  • Provide your record and identification
  • Give secure online consent
  • Approve the service before payment

Government's part

  • Review the complete application
  • Approve or refuse it under the law
  • Issue the formal instruction

Honest timing

A journey with four different clocks.

Preparation time and government processing are not the same thing. We show them separately so you always know which stage you are waiting for.
